All it takes is one wrong move.
One twitch of the wrist. One misplaced forearm, and you see your diamonds plummeting to the floor almost in slow motion.
So, is all hope lost? Fear not, because on this week's Diamond Painting Pro Tips we're going to give you a simple hack for when you have an "Oh Sh*t" moment.
LIFE HACK: The Vacuum - Diamond - Pantyhose Trick
This one's pretty self explanatory, but an absolute life-saver once you have to go though this process yourself.
Step 1: Grab a spare pair of pantyhose.
Alternatively, you can also use a regular old pair of leggings. Anything relatively sheer should work.
Step 2: Place the pantyhose over the hose extension of a standard vacuum cleaner.
Step 3: Suck up your fallen diamonds.
Note - careful not to accidentally turn the vacuum off before your diamonds are placed strategically over a trash bin (if they're all mixed up) or your desk if you want to use them later.
Oh - and be careful if your vacuum also happens to pick up any stray fur baby hairs 🐕🤣

Great tip on spilled drills. I have spilled mine so many times. I would be on my knees picking them up one at a time. I will use the vacuum cleaner next time. Thanks

I’ve been very lucky that this hasn’t happened to me yet, but my daughter-in-law uses some of her 3yo sons play doh to pick up bits of glitter/ sequins/ tiny beads etc. I’m pretty sure it will help pick up dropped drills too.
I’ve made a note of all your tips about this, so that I’ll be prepared for when this happens to me.

I love the pantyhose idea as I have spilled my diamond dotz a few times and used the vacuum cleaner. I have a cat so all the cat hair was mixed in. My problem is I dont think I have a pair of pantyhose. I have some gauze that would probably do the trick.

If there isn’t a whole lot of spilled diamonds the wax that comes in the kit picks them up pretty good also.

When I had that oh sh*t moment I just got on the carpet and picked them (fortunately diamonds were all black) up by hand and tweezers. The hardest part was getting back up off the floor by I’m old!,

After reading about the lady storing her diamonds in the film containers, I thought I would also share empty pharmacy bottles also work great as well as some of the colors especially on the larger pictures will have a lot of diamonds, too many for the small storage containers you can purchase.

I have to tell you watching the video of all those diamonds pouring onto the floor made me physically ill. Thank God I haven’t had that problem YET The most I have spilled was from my little green boat that holds my diamonds. Hopefully I won’t have to use the vacuum but thanks for heads up

I use double sided tape that you can wind around a rolling pin. Or will wind regular tape around upper part of my fingers with sticky side out.

I store my Diamonds in film containers that I have collected. They work a lot better than plastic bags. And it’s easier to to put the Diamonds in them than bags. I haven’t bought any camera film in years, so I don’t know if they are still available.

Thanks, I happen to pick them up with a link roller. I usually drop a few, but it’s good to know that. I’ll have to try that next time.
Thank You.

I have used my hand held vacuum since day 1 as I’m always accidentally dropping some on the rug. So at the end of a session I do a quick vac and then empty the tiny bin and voila there’re my resins ready to go the next day. Another quick trick for just a few are the gel pads used for beading. A quick pass picks up the waywards.

My Oh, Sh*t! moment resulted in the majority of my navy dots dumping onto my multi-colored carpet. Nothing can be found that drops on this awful carpet. Since I just moved here replacing it isn’t an option yet. Not to worry…I got my lint roller and rolled it over the area where the dots dropped. Even though I couldn’t see them, my trusty lint roller picked them up and I was able to flick them off the roller and back into the tray with my fingernail. Several passes of the roller and no more were being picked up, so I knew I hand them all. Now a lint roller lives in my dots bag!

I’ve had this moment twice! I have a cement porch covered with fake grass. I take my diamond painting outside and use a t.v. tray to work on. I stood up to do something, bumped the tray and …well you know the rest. This tip would have come in handy then. Instead I’m crawling around on the floor trying to find diamonds! Urrrggg! I’m still finding them! Thank you so much for this tip! <3
