I just love how there are different months and days to celebrate and spread awareness around different things. Some of them are serious like May being Mental Health Awareness month. Others are silly like July 17th being World Emoji Day. 🎉 But one of my favorites has to be March because it's National Craft Month!!
If you're ready to celebrate National Craft Month with a new craft to try, I highly recommend Diamond Painting!
1. It's super relaxing!
Who could use a little rest and relaxation right about now? 🙋♀️ After the year we've all been through, I'm guessing that answer is EVERYONE!
This is another reason why you should try Diamond Painting for National Craft Month. It's a great activity if you're dealing with stress and anxiety.
Diamond Painting doesn't require a complicated thought process. You don't have to solve problems or figure out tricky techniques as you do in some other crafts. But it does provide you with something to focus your attention on. This makes it a great craft to unwind with after a long day. It can help you shift your attention from the issues of the day over to something you enjoy, without making you have to think too hard about it.
It also allows you to use up some of that nervous energy you may have stored up if you're fighting anxiety. If you tend to fidget when your mind is racing, Diamond Painting gives you something creative to do with your hands to keep them busy.
2. It's SO easy
I'll be honest, I'm not the most crafty person in the world. I want to be. I love seeing all these ridiculously creative craft projects that people do for fun. But when I try them, they tend to come out looking like they should be in a list of Pinterest fails!
When I first tried Diamond Painting, I was a little nervous. It sounded simple enough, but I'd thought that before only to be surprised at how not-simple a project really was. Thankfully that wasn't the case with Diamond Art.
It truly was as simple as it looked. I didn't have to figure out a bunch of stuff. The kits made it really quick and easy to get started.
In fact, it was so simple that I got my three daughters involved.
3. It can be as simple or complex as you want it to be
Diamond Painting Kits allow you to choose how complicated you want your picture to be. If you're just starting out and aren't sure what you're going to think, you can start with a simpler design in a smaller size.
In fact, the first Diamond Painting I did was a pony picture with my daughters. It was a great way to get started and find out that I liked it. If you're a little intimidated about giving Diamond Painting a try (which you totally don't need to be), you may feel more comfortable not committing to a larger kit with smaller diamonds 💎. You can start simple.
But if you're ready to jump in with both feet for National Craft Month, or if you're already a Diamond Painting veteran, then you can get as creative and complex as you want. You can even get a custom kit to transform one of your own photographs into a Diamond Painting Canvas!!
4. You don't need to find a bunch of supplies
Have you ever tried to start a craft only to wind up frustrated before you even started because you couldn't find all the materials that you needed? I know I have! I ran from store to store trying to find the right type of yarn, perfect color paint, or some other specialty tool that I wasn't really familiar with.
When that happens it steals the fun out of doing the craft by putting a bad taste in my mouth.
And that's one more reason I like Diamond Painting. As a busy, working mom, I don't have a bunch of spare time to run to hobby and craft stores gathering supplies. And I especially don't like when I get in the middle of a project only to learn that I don't have everything I need.
You don't have to worry about all that with Diamond Painting. Everything you need comes all packaged up together. There's no forgetting a certain tool or not having just the right color material. It's all there, ready and waiting for you when your kit shows up in the mail. (Which is also a bonus because it comes directly to my door!!)
5. You get a piece of artwork you can display
Diamond Painting gives you the opportunity to create a beautiful piece of artwork that you can display in your house. You can choose a kit that shows your personality or get a custom kit of your own image to proudly display.
Or, you can use National Craft Month as an opportunity to create a Diamond Painting to give as a gift to someone important in your life. This lets you turn the craft that you enjoyed the process of making into something that someone else can enjoy for years to come.
These are just five of the reasons why Diamond Painting is a great craft to try for National Craft Month. My husband purchased 2 Diamond Painting Kits at a flea market. I have a pen with a metal tube at the bottom, a square plactic piece and all different colors of sequins and two pictures with numbers. My question is what is the pen with the metal tube at the bottom for? Is it to push the sequins in place? And what is the square plactic piece for? I am a craft person and an artist but it is just a matter of how to apply the sequins to the picture. Also how do you keep from getting yourself from all the sticky paper. I suppose you work at the edge going in but not sure. Something I thought would be new and relaxing is become a new pain in the neck. Any suggestions about the supplies and how to apply them would be appreciated. It would help if the put instructions with these kits. Geraldine
